Fuji S5 amd Nikon D200 DR comparison.

The following images were taken purely as a comparison of DR.

I have been intrigued by Fuji's unique sensor arrangement and how that
would be of benefit to my photography, whether shooting a commercial
project or even an event.

The following test was a simple example, both shot within seconds of each
other, both cameras at 100ISO, f/14, tripod mounted.

First up the S5 image. This is a DR 400% (W2) image, shot RAW, then
converted with Std camera settings and no PP whatsoever.

Below is the histogram.

No highlight clipping and virtually no shadow clipping either, as good
as you could hope for in a high contrast image.

Now the D200.

Shot RAW, converted in Capture NX and no PP whatsoever.

The histogram looks like this:-

We can see that we have lost some highlight detail albeit not a huge
amount and it should be recoverable, however in order to
achieve this, the shadows are severely clipped as a result.

Conclusion? I think the results speak for themselves. However please bear
in mind that this is only one aspect of a cameras performance, but for
many I suspect, this will be of great significance.
